Lelde Adele Cīrule is the mastermind behind this project together with photographer Mārtiņš Goldbergs. I joined the project at the end as the advisor about the layouts in the physical book.
Together with Mārtiņš we came up with this idea of a two layer layout. The photos are powerful on their own and we didn't want the users attention to be immediately drawn to text, so we left the photos in normal position and rotated the text 90o.
Also there is this "interactive" element of lines across the border of the page. The principle that the stories are ordered from start to finish might imply that one is more important the other. So the lines indicate sort of an archive. Each story has one line and the lines move out a bit in each layout. But they are going in random, so that there's no inherent structure to the order of the stories.
